The Best Real Estate Agents in Dallas 2013
Plus the best insurance agents and mortgage professionals.
How we did it: To produce the lists of best residential real estate agents, best mortgage professionals, and best insurance agents in Dallas, we began by reaching out to almost 8,000 people. We mailed nomination ballots to 323 previous Best Real Estate Agent winners, 80 mortgage and title companies, and 5,200 D Magazine subscribers. In addition to that, we hired a call center that made 2,300 calls to recent home buyers. To determine the Best Real Estate Agents, we asked recent home buyers and subscribers to evaluate up to two agents they have worked with. We asked them to rate the agents based on customer service, integrity, market knowledge, communication, negotiation, post-sale service, and overall satisfaction. We asked mortgage and title companies to nominate up to three real estate agents they work with closely. We asked previous Best Real Estate Agents to nominate up to three real estate agents, one with their firms, and two outside their firms. For the Best Mortgage Professionals and Best Insurance Agents, we asked recent home buyers and subscribers to evaluate one professional they have worked with, based on overall satisfaction and if they’d recommend the professional to a friend. We asked real estate agents to nominate up to three professionals whom they have worked with closely. We put all that data into an algorithm placing emphasis on feedback we received from consumers, our subscribers, and the recent home buyers. We then screened each nominee with the Texas Real Estate Commission, Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending, and Texas Department of Insurance databases to make certain that licenses were up to date and there had been no disciplinary action. The resulting lists represent slightly less than 3 percent of mortgage professionals and slightly less than 2 percent of licensed real estate agents in the Dallas area. Finally, we turned the lists over to our sales team. They cannot add to or subtract from the lists, but they can sell ads to the winners. Advertising in no way affects our lists, the final makeup of which is the sole determination of the editorial staff. A special advertising section containing all the winners who purchased ads is displayed somewhere else in this magazine.

If you want proof that the North Texas residential real estate market has bounced back—big time—look no further than D Magazine’s annual list of the area’s top-producing agents. Realtors can’t charm their way onto this list; they must hit certain sales volume minimums to qualify. This year, 357 agents earned Top Producer status—a big jump over last year, when only about 200 qualified. Agents had to close, or lead teams that closed, the following 2012 sales minimums: Individual Agents, $10 million; Individual Agents—Platinum, $25 million; Teams of Two Agents, $15 million; Teams of Two Agents—Platinum, $30 million; Groups of 3-5 Agents, $25 million; Groups of 3-5 Agents—Platinum, $45 million; Groups of 6-10 Agents, $35 million; Groups of 6-10 Agents—Platinum, $60 million; Groups of more than 10 Agents, $40 million; and Groups of more than 10 Agents—Platinum, $75 million. Ebby Halliday Realtors led the way, with 57 agents who qualified for inclusion on this year’s Top Producers list. Rounding out the top five were RE/MAX (54), Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty (50), Dave Perry-Miller & Associates (45), and Keller Williams (44). Here’s the complete list, presented in alphabetical order by category.
